The Walton Family Reunion is ON like a spider monkey... and set for the second weekend in June 2008. Details on hotels, etc will follow shortly (hint, hint Linda). STAYED TUNED!
Hello everyone! Thanks so much, Shannon, for getting a new website up and running!!!
I have included the list of hotels that are near our house and Chatfield State Park/Reservoir. They are all in the same location, and are budget to more expensive in price. If you are all interested in the same hotel, most of them offer group rates. I have included each website as well for your convenience.
Our house is large enough for the entire family to gather, so I suggest a family BBQ on one of the days. Wayne also suggested we try not to pack tooooo much in during the time frame or we wont get a chance to visit! As of now, I think we have agreed on Chatfield Reservoir/beach for fishing/swimming etc with a picnic for one of the days (weather permitting). I know Shannon mentioned her family wanted to go to Water World one day. Luke's 4th Birthday is on that Saturday the 7th, so we will definitely have to celebrate a bit on that day! Any other ideas? If not, I think visiting and lots of picture taking is a great way to spend the day/evening! Please fill me in on your hotel or camping decisions as soon as possible. Happy February! :) Krista

Here's the Chatfield Reservior website, which I think got lost on the old reunion website. Again, please fill me in on your thoughts regarding my previous entry on the reunion. Thanks!! Krista

Linda emailed me and she is calling some of the hotels to check on group rates. Hopefully she will post her findings... or I will post what she emails to me.
Thank you so much for your research on all the hotels! Very Helpful!
The reservoir looks very nice, and we couldn't have a family reunion without a Walton BBQ! IJS. It's like law or something. That sounds great!
Water World is something our family has done many times so if there is no interest from anyone else that isnt a HAVE TO thing. Our main objective is to VISIT and SEE everyone of course... and celebrate Bdays! :D
Hopefully many more details and thoughts to follow from the rest of the family... HINT HINT!
Hope people will reply ASAP! Hotel info is as follows: The group discounts I found were $10 less than regular rate---no AARP or AAA rates could be applied. I was told this rate was the cheapest. Super 8 rate is $79.00 a night with either one or two beds in a room. No frills, continental breakfast included.
Holiday Inn group rate is $89.00 a night, again with either one or two beds. They have a full restaurant, lounge, pool, fitness room, and rooms that connect. They are newly remodeled. I thought this sounded like the better deal, especially since it has a pool which might be fun for the kids. I can do more checking, but I think these rates are about the best we will be able to do. So...put your vote in now for which hotel you would prefer. I will try by the weekend to get a couple more quotes on hotel rates and see what amenities they have.
I've been doing some checking on hotels today as well since I had some free time. I'm not familiar enough with Denver to know the distance from Lakewood... however, I did find a LaQuinta. Whitney & I have stayed at this particular hotel before so we know it's not a dive. They have a pool and a nice continental breakfast as well as being close to lots of eating places and the Westminster Promenade which would make a nice gathering/visiting place for an evening.

I put in Lakewood, CO as the city but the one I chose was westminster promenade.
I requested 5 rooms and if the person reserving has an AARP number, the rate is $76.50 per night.
Hi everyone......
If you utilize the links above, for the LaQuinta, and type in Lakewood for your city, the first listing is the LaQuinta on Hampden Ave. This hotel is the closest to the other hotels listed and our house, as well as Chatfield Res. The price difference saved for the Westminster Prominade will be lost once you factor in gas and driving time to get from Westminster to Littleton. The hotels I have listed above are the best deals to stay in the neighborhood. The links list all information regarding hotel descriptions, amenities and rates, and are in a nice location, plus they are close dining options of Denny's Old Chicago,s and Bennigans (not to mention the Walton house which will serve a heck of a backyard barbeque!!!!)
